Terms of Service
Effective date: 15 October 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("you", "your", or "User") and Bobble Designs ("Bobble", "we", "us", or "our") governing your access to and use of the Bobble web application, website, and related services (collectively, the "Service") available at bobbledesigns.com.
By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not access or use the Service.
1. Description of the Service
Bobble is a web-based application that enables users to convert photographs and images into crochet charts, complete with colour palettes and row-by-row stitch instructions. The Service is available as a free tier with limited functionality and as a paid subscription ("Bobble Pro") with additional features.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to create an account or use the Service. By using the Service, you confirm that you are 16 or over.
3. Account Registration and Security
3.1 Account Creation
You may use the Service without an account in local-only mode (projects are stored in your browser and are not synchronised across devices). To save projects to the cloud and access them from any device, you must sign in using a Google account. We do not offer username/password registration.
3.2 Account Security
You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality and security of your Google account credentials. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorised access to or use of your account. We shall not be liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to safeguard your account.
4. Subscription Plans and Payment
4.1 Free Plan
The free plan lets you design a chart and make it in Bobble. It includes:
- up to 3 projects in progress (finished projects do not count) and up to 3 new projects a week;
- the 14 free templates;
- your chart on screen in Bobble, and Make Mode, the row-by-row tracker, to make it;
- 1 active shareable link at a time. A shared link, and a pin you save to Pinterest, show the chart picture. They do not show the written instructions or a chart that can be printed or downloaded.
The free plan does not include any download (PDF, PNG image or printing) or the written instructions. This applies to Bobble's own free designs as well. Downloads and written instructions are part of Bobble Pro. Downloading your own data from Account settings is not a download of a chart in this sense, and it stays free on every plan.
4.2 Bobble Pro
Bobble Pro includes everything in the free plan, and:
- up to 50 projects in progress (finished projects do not count);
- the full template library, including Pro-only templates;
- the Pastel, Pop art and Vintage style filters;
- every download: a PDF of any chart, with the chart and the written instructions together (your own photo, other makers' Gallery designs, Pro designs and Bobble's own free designs), the chart as a PNG image, and printing;
- the written instructions: the Instructions sheet, and copying the written rows as text;
- up to 100 active shareable links.
4.3 Pricing and Billing
- Bobble Pro costs £3.99 a month. The first payment is taken when you subscribe, and the same amount is taken each month after that, on the day your subscription renews.
- Bobble Pro renews automatically every month until you cancel. There is no minimum term.
- All payments are processed securely by Stripe, Inc.
- Prices are inclusive of applicable taxes unless otherwise stated
- We may change the price of Bobble Pro to reflect changes in what it costs us to provide it, such as payment, hosting or sign-in charges, or tax. We will email you 30 days before the new price first applies. The email will give the new price, the reason, the date it starts and how to cancel. The new price applies from your first renewal on or after that date. If you do not want to pay it, cancel before then and you will not be charged again. If our costs fall, we will consider lowering the price.
4.4 Cancellation
You may cancel your Bobble Pro subscription at any time online: in the app, open Account, choose Manage billing and cancel there. You can also email hello@bobbledesigns.com and we will cancel it for you. Upon cancellation:
- Your Pro features remain available until the end of the current billing period, after which your account reverts to the free tier
- No further charges will be applied
- Your existing projects remain in your account and continue to be accessible across devices via the free-tier cloud sync. Projects beyond the free-tier limit (currently 3) will remain readable; however, creating new projects will be blocked until your project count falls within the limit or you re-subscribe. Once your account is on the free plan, 15.3 applies to it, but not until 60 days after your subscription ended.
4.5 Refunds and Statutory Cooling-Off Rights
If you are a consumer in the UK or the EU, you can cancel Bobble Pro within 14 days of the day you subscribe and get the whole of your first payment back, even if you have used Pro in that time. To do so, email hello@bobbledesigns.com (or use the cancellation form in 4.6) within those 14 days and tell us you are cancelling. We will refund the payment to the card you used within 14 days of hearing from you. Cancelling in the app (Account, then Manage billing) stops future payments; to get the first payment back you also need to tell us, as above. This applies to the first payment of each new subscription, not to later monthly renewals.
Outside of any statutory right, refund requests are considered on a case-by-case basis at our reasonable discretion. To request a refund or exercise your cancellation right, please contact us at hello@bobbledesigns.com within 14 days of the charge in question. Nothing in these Terms is intended to limit or exclude any rights you have that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable consumer law.
4.6 Who You Are Contracting With, and the Cancellation Form
Bobble Pro is sold by:
Bobble Designs, Jersey, Channel Islands.
Email: hello@bobbledesigns.com.
Website: bobbledesigns.com.
You can cancel by any clear statement to us. If you want to use a form, copy this into an email to hello@bobbledesigns.com:
To: Bobble Designs, Jersey, Channel Islands. Email: hello@bobbledesigns.com. I hereby give notice that I cancel my contract for the supply of the following service: Bobble Pro, monthly subscription. Ordered on: [date]. Name: [your name]. Address: [your address]. Email address used for Bobble: [email]. Signature (only if this form is sent on paper). Date: [date].
4.7 Changes to the free plan
The free plan is free, and it is provided as section 12 describes. We do not promise that any free feature will stay available. We may change, limit or withdraw free features at any time for any of these reasons: to comply with the law, a regulator or a court; to deal with a security threat or misuse of the Service; because a service we rely on changes or stops what it provides; to correct an error; to improve Bobble; or because a feature costs more to provide free than we can sustain.
Minor improvements, corrections and changes needed for security or the law may take effect at once, without notice. Before any other change that takes away or materially reduces a free feature takes effect, we will say in the app what is changing and the date it applies from, and we will give any further notice the law requires. You can stop using the free plan, or delete your account, at any time and at no cost.
Your projects remain yours. If we end the free plan, we will give you reasonable notice and a practical chance to download your data before your projects are removed, unless the law or an urgent security issue prevents it. Inactive free accounts are dealt with under 15.3.
4.8 Changes to Bobble Pro
We may change Bobble Pro only:
(a) to comply with the law, a regulator or a court;
(b) to deal with a security threat or misuse of the Service;
(c) because a service we rely on, such as Stripe, Google sign-in or our hosting, changes or stops what it provides;
(d) to correct an error; or
(e) to improve Pro or add to it, where the change takes nothing away from you.
We can make a change under (e) at any time. If a change under (a) to (d) would remove a Pro feature or make Pro materially worse for you, we will email you at least 30 days before it applies, saying what is changing and why, and ask you to accept it in the app. If you accept, it applies from your first renewal after those 30 days. If you do not accept by then, your subscription ends at the end of the period you have paid for, you will not be charged again, and your projects stay in your account on the free plan. If the law or a security threat means we must make the change sooner, we will tell you as soon as we can, and if you cancel because of it we will refund the unused part of that month.
5. Intellectual Property
5.1 Your Content
You retain all ownership rights in any images you upload and charts you create using the Service ("User Content"). We do not claim any intellectual property rights over your User Content. Where you choose to publish a chart to the community gallery, the licence you grant us extends to displaying and distributing that chart publicly, as set out in section 7.
5.2 Licence to Bobble
By using cloud synchronisation features, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, reproduce, and transmit your User Content solely for the purpose of providing and operating the Service. This licence terminates when you delete your content or your account.
5.3 Our Intellectual Property
The Service, including its design, code, graphics, logos, and trademarks, is owned by Bobble Designs and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the Service without our prior written consent.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Violate any applicable local, national, or international law or regulation
- Upload content that infringes the intellectual property rights of any third party
- Upload malicious code, viruses, or any harmful digital content
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service, its servers, or related systems
- Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service
- Use the Service as general-purpose file storage unrelated to its intended function
- Resell, sublicence, or redistribute the Service or access thereto without our prior written consent
- Use automated means (bots, scrapers, etc.) to access the Service without our prior written permission
7. Publishing to the Community Gallery
Publishing a chart to the community gallery is entirely optional. If you choose to publish, and once your submission is approved, your chart becomes public: it appears at bobbledesigns.com/gallery and on its own page, both of which search engines and social platforms may index, cache, and display.
You keep ownership of everything you publish. By publishing a chart, you grant Bobble a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, display, reproduce, and distribute the published chart together with its preview image, title, description, and subject, for the purposes of operating and promoting the gallery. You also grant other users the right to make the chart for their own personal, non-commercial use.
By publishing, you confirm that you created the chart or otherwise have the right to publish it, that it infringes no one's rights, and that any identifiable person shown in it has agreed to appear. You must not publish images of other people without their consent, images of children, or copyrighted or branded characters.
You can remove a published chart at any time from your account, which deletes its public page and preview image. Bobble reviews every submission and may decline or remove any entry at its discretion.
To report a chart, or to complain about a decision we made about one, see section 8 (Community Gallery safety). For a copyright claim, see section 9 (Copyright and takedowns).
8. Community Gallery safety
The Gallery is open to everyone, signed in or not. This section says what may not be published, how to report something, how we deal with reports and complaints, and how to appeal a decision about your own entry. It applies to the Gallery, to each design's own page and to charts you share by link.
8.1 What may not be published
You must not publish, share or link to anything that is illegal. In particular:
- Terrorism content. Anything that promotes, supports, encourages or helps terrorism or a banned terrorist group.
- Child sexual abuse and exploitation. Any sexual image of a child, whether a photograph, a drawing, a chart or an image made or changed by software, and anything that grooms, sexualises or exploits a child. Separately from the law, section 7 already bars images of children of any kind.
- Intimate images shared without consent. A photograph or film that shows, or appears to show, a real person nude, partly nude, in a sexual act or in a private act, published without that person's consent. This includes faked or altered images.
- Other illegal content. For example: threats, harassment or stalking; content that stirs up hatred in a way the law forbids; encouraging or helping someone to take their own life or to seriously harm themselves; sending sexual images to people who did not ask for them; fraud and scams; selling or offering drugs, weapons or other illegal items; and content that infringes someone's copyright (section 9).
This list does not replace the law, and section 7 still applies: no images of other people without their consent, and no copyrighted or branded characters.
8.2 How we keep illegal content out
Every entry is checked by a person at Bobble before it appears in the Gallery. Before an entry is sent for checking, the app runs its title, note and tags through a word filter that looks for strong swear words and slurs; if it finds one, it asks you to reword and nothing is sent. We use no other automated tool to find or remove content. Charts shared privately by link are not checked before they are sent, so we rely on reports for those.
When we find illegal content, or someone tells us about it, we take it down. Terrorism content and child sexual abuse material are removed as soon as we see them, the account is closed, and we report the material to the police or the relevant authority.
8.3 How to report
Anyone can report, with or without a Bobble account:
- use the Report this design link on the design's page, the Report it link on a shared chart's page, or the report link at the foot of the Gallery page; or
- email hello@bobbledesigns.com with the link to the page and a sentence on what is wrong.
We aim to look at every report within 48 hours and to take down anything illegal straight away. We will tell you what we did if you gave us a way to reply.
8.4 Reporting an intimate image of you
If a Gallery entry or a shared chart contains an intimate image of you, or of someone you are acting for, the quickest way to tell us is the form at bobbledesigns.com/report-image: it sets out the points below and opens an email to us in your own email app, and the site stores nothing. Or email hello@bobbledesigns.com with the subject Intimate image report and include:
- the link to the page, or enough detail for us to find the image;
- a statement that the content is an intimate image of you, or of the person you act for, shared without consent;
- a statement that you are the person shown, or that you are acting on their behalf;
- a statement that you are making the report in good faith and that it is true to the best of your knowledge and belief; and
- how to contact you.
We will take the image down, together with any copy of it we find on Bobble, as soon as we reasonably can and in any case within 48 hours of receiving the report. We will not take it down only if we conclude that it is not an intimate image, or that the report did not come from the person shown or someone acting for them; if so, we will tell you why. If you disagree with what we did, reply to our email and we will deal with your complaint first, ahead of other work.
8.5 What happens to the person who published it
When we take an entry down because it is illegal, we tell the person who published it, unless that would put someone at risk or the law stops us. We may also stop that account from publishing, or close it:
- for terrorism content or child sexual abuse material, we close the account at once;
- for other illegal content, a first removal brings a warning, and a second removal ends that account's ability to publish to the Gallery. We may close the account if the content was serious or the breaches continue. A removal reversed on appeal does not count.
8.6 Complaints
You can complain to us if:
- you think content on Bobble is illegal and we have not dealt with it;
- you think we are not meeting our duties to protect users from illegal content, to let people report it, or to respect freedom of expression and privacy;
- your entry was taken down because we judged it illegal;
- we warned you, stopped you publishing or closed your account because of something you published; or
- the word filter in 8.2 stopped an entry of yours and you think it should not have.
Email hello@bobbledesigns.com with the subject Complaint, saying what happened and what you would like us to do. We will acknowledge your complaint within 2 working days and aim to give you our decision, with reasons, within 14 days.
8.7 Appeals
If your entry was taken down or your account restricted under this section, you can ask us to look again. Reply to the email that told you of our decision, or write to hello@bobbledesigns.com with the subject Appeal, within 30 days, and tell us why you think we were wrong. We will review the decision afresh, with anything new you send us, and aim to give you the outcome within 14 days.
If we decide we were wrong, we will put the entry back (or invite you to publish it again if it can no longer be restored), lift any restriction on your account, and tell you. Nothing in this section affects any other right you have, including the right to go to court.
9. Copyright and takedowns
We respect the rights of designers, photographers and other creators, and we expect makers to do the same. If something on Bobble uses your work without permission, tell us and we will deal with it. This section applies wherever you are; 9.3 adds what a United States claim needs.
9.1 How to tell us
Email dmca@bobbledesigns.com with the subject Copyright notice. Please include:
- your full name and postal address, and a telephone number or email address where we can reach you;
- the work you own (or act for), described well enough for us to recognise it, with a link if it is online;
- the link to each page on Bobble that you say infringes it; and
- why you say the use is unlawful, for example that you made the original and did not give permission.
A notice that leaves something out still reaches us, but we may need to ask before we can act.
9.2 What we do with a notice
We look at every notice promptly and aim to act within 48 hours. If the notice shows that a page infringes, we take it down, or take down the part that infringes. We tell the person who published it, and send them a copy of the notice with your contact details unless you ask us not to and the law allows it. Where a notice is unclear, we may ask you for more before deciding.
9.3 Notices under United States law
If you are making a claim under the United States Digital Millennium Copyright Act, your notice must be in writing and contain:
- your physical or electronic signature, as the copyright owner or a person authorised to act for them;
- identification of the copyrighted work, or, for several works on Bobble, a representative list;
- identification of the material you say infringes, with enough information for us to find it, such as the page link;
- your address, telephone number and, if you have one, email address;
- a statement that you believe in good faith that the use complained of is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent or the law; and
- a statement that the information in the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are authorised to act for the owner of the right that is said to be infringed.
9.4 If your entry was taken down and you think we got it wrong
If we took down your entry after a copyright notice and you believe that was a mistake, or that you have the right to publish it, reply to the email that told you, with the subject Counter-notice. Tell us which entry it was and why you think it should come back. We will consider it and, if we put the entry back, tell the person who complained first.
For a takedown made under United States law, your counter-notice must be in writing and contain:
- your physical or electronic signature;
- identification of the material that was removed and the page where it appeared;
- a statement under penalty of perjury that you believe in good faith the material was removed by mistake or because it was misidentified; and
- your name, address and telephone number, a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the United States federal district court for the district where your address is (or, if your address is outside the United States, any district in which Bobble may be found), and that you will accept service of legal papers from the person who sent the notice or their agent.
When we receive a valid counter-notice under United States law, we send a copy to the person who sent the notice and tell them we will put the material back in 10 business days. We then restore it between 10 and 14 business days after we received the counter-notice, unless they first tell us they have started court proceedings to stop the use.
Under United States law, a person who knowingly and materially misrepresents in a notice that material infringes, or in a counter-notice that it was removed by mistake, may be liable for the damage that causes.
9.5 Repeat infringers
We apply the same rule as for other illegal content (8.5): a first entry taken down for infringing copyright brings a warning, and a second ends that account's ability to publish to the Gallery. We may close the account if the infringement was serious or continues. A takedown reversed after a counter-notice or on appeal does not count.
10. Service Limits
- Free accounts: up to 3 projects in progress; finished projects do not count (cloud-synced if signed in)
- Pro accounts: up to 50 projects in progress; finished projects do not count (cloud-synced)
- Maximum data size: 5 MB per project
- Maximum thumbnail size: 200 KB per project
We reserve the right to modify these limits with reasonable notice. Usage significantly exceeding normal patterns may be subject to throttling or suspension pending review.
11. Service Availability
We endeavour to maintain the availability of the Service at all times; however, we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to:
- Scheduled or emergency maintenance
- Updates, upgrades, or infrastructure changes
- Circumstances beyond our reasonable control (force majeure)
The offline-capable PWA functionality will continue to operate for locally stored projects regardless of server availability.
12. Availability and results
The free plan, and Bobble used without an account, are provided "as is" and "as available". This means we offer them as they are at the time you use them. We do not promise that they will be available without interruption or free of errors, that any feature will stay available, or that a chart will suit what you want to make. Check the chart, yarn amounts and fit before you buy materials.
We will provide Bobble Pro with reasonable care and skill, and as it was described to you when you subscribed, subject to the changes 4.8 allows.
Your statutory rights are not affected. Nothing in these Terms removes a right the law gives you, including rights about the quality, description or fitness of digital content or services where those rights apply.
13. Liability
We are responsible for reasonably foreseeable loss or damage caused by our breach of these Terms or our failure to exercise reasonable care and skill, where the law makes us responsible. We are not responsible for loss that was not reasonably foreseeable.
A lawful change to a free feature, or a temporary interruption where we have met our legal and contractual obligations, does not by itself entitle you to compensation. This does not excuse a breach of an existing obligation or remove a remedy the law gives you.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, damage or compensation for which data protection law makes us responsible, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Your statutory consumer rights are not affected.
14. Claims caused by your breach
If you break these Terms, for example by publishing something you had no right to publish, and someone makes a claim against us because of it, you are responsible for the loss your breach caused us, where that loss was reasonably foreseeable. This does not make you responsible for anything that was not your fault.
15. Account Termination
15.1 Termination by You
You may delete your account at any time in Account settings. If you have Bobble Pro, cancel it first; you can delete the account once the period you have paid for has ended. Deleting your account removes it, your projects, your shared links, your Gallery entries and activity, and your stored images from our servers. We keep only what section 6 of our Privacy Policy lists: records the law requires us to keep, such as payment and tax records and records of content we took down, for as long as the law requires; the list that stops us emailing an address that asked us not to; and usage totals that no longer identify you. Projects kept only in your browser stay on your device until you clear them.
15.2 Termination by Us
We may suspend or close your account, or stop you publishing to the Gallery, if:
- you seriously breach these Terms, or keep breaching them after we have asked you to stop;
- your use of the Service puts the Service or other users at risk;
- the law requires us to; or
- you publish illegal content or other people's copyright material, as 8.5 and 9.5 set out.
Where we can, we will tell you before we act and say why. We may act without notice where the breach is serious, where there is a risk to other users or to the Service, or where the law requires it. If we close an account that has Bobble Pro for a reason other than a serious breach by you, we will refund the unused part of the period you have paid for.
We may also delete an inactive free account, as 15.3 sets out.
15.3 Inactive free accounts
We may delete a free account that has not been used for 60 days. An account has been used when someone signs in to it, opens Bobble on a device that is still signed in to it, or saves a project to it, including progress in Make Mode.
This applies only to an account with no Bobble Pro subscription and none that ended in the last 60 days. It never applies to an account with work published in the Community Gallery, or sent to it for checking.
At least 14 days before we delete an inactive account, we email the address the account signs in with and give the date we will delete it. If you sign in before that date, we keep the account and the 60 days start again. The email is a service message about your account, so we send it even if you have unsubscribed from our other emails. Until the date, you can download your data from Account settings.
Deleting an inactive account removes the same things as deleting it yourself (15.1). Projects kept only in your browser are not affected.
This section applies from 29 October 2026. We will not delete an account under it until at least 14 days after we have emailed that account its warning.
16. Modifications to the Service and Terms
16.1 Service Modifications
We may change, improve or remove parts of the Service, subject to 4.7 for the free plan and 4.8 for Bobble Pro. Nothing in this section lets us take away a Pro feature during a period you have paid for, except as 4.8 allows.
16.2 Amendments to Terms
We may change these Terms at any time. The current version is always on this page with its effective date. A change does not take away a right or notice period that already applies to you.
- For the free plan, and for anyone using Bobble without signing in, a change applies from the effective date shown on this page, and routine changes do not need an individual email. A change that takes away or materially reduces a free feature follows 4.7.
- If you have Bobble Pro, a change that affects your rights or what you pay is made only under 4.3 or 4.8. Other changes, such as clearer wording or a new contact address, apply from the effective date.
- A change the law requires applies from the date the law sets.
When a change affects how you use Bobble, we also say so in the app. If you do not agree to a change, stop using Bobble, and cancel Pro if you have it.
17. General Provisions
17.1 Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the law of Jersey (Channel Islands). If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country where you live, and nothing in these Terms takes it away.
17.2 Dispute Resolution
If something goes wrong, please email us first at hello@bobbledesigns.com and we will try to put it right with you. If we cannot, you may bring a claim in the courts of Jersey or, if you are a consumer, in the courts of the country where you live. If we need to bring a claim against a consumer, we will bring it in the courts of the country where they live.
17.3 Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
17.4 Entire Agreement
These Terms and our Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service. This does not affect anything we told you about Bobble Pro before you subscribed, such as the description on the Pricing page, which the law treats as part of your contract, and it does not limit our liability for anything we said that was untrue.
17.5 Waiver
The failure of Bobble Designs to enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not be deemed a waiver of such right or provision.
17.6 Assignment
You may not transfer your rights under these Terms to anyone else without our written agreement. We may transfer this agreement to a business that takes over the Service, as long as that does not reduce your rights under it. We will tell you if this happens. If you have Bobble Pro, you may then cancel and we will refund the unused part of the period you have paid for.
18. Contact Us
If you have any questions about these Terms, please contact us:
