Help and support

Everything about using Bobble, from the first photo to the last row, with plans, billing and your data covered too. If the answer is not here, email and a person replies.

Getting started

How do I start a new project?

Tap the + button to upload your own photo, or pick any template from the gallery on the home screen. Choose your yarn colours, set the grid size, and Bobble builds the chart for you to make row by row in Make Mode. The photo to crochet pattern guide walks through it.

How do I change the yarn colours?

In the Maker, the Colours tab sets how many colours the chart uses. Each colour’s menu changes its shade, keeps it when the number of colours changes or a picture moves, renames it or merges it into another, so you can match yarn you already own. See choosing yarn colours from a photo.

What is the difference between C2C and rows?

C2C (corner-to-corner) works diagonally in blocks: faster, drapier, and good for blankets. Rows work across the chart in double crochet (UK terms; single crochet in US terms) and give a tighter, more pixel-art look, better for cushions and wall hangings. Same chart, different stitch path. More in what is a C2C graphghan.

Does Bobble use UK or US crochet terms?

UK terms, unless you choose US. Bobble asks the first time you open Make Mode, and you can change it at any time under Crochet terms on the Account screen. The chart is the same in both; only the stitch names in the written pattern change. In UK terms each square of a rows chart is a double crochet (dc), which US terms call a single crochet (sc). A C2C block is a chain of 3 and 3 trebles (tr), which US terms call 3 double crochet (dc).

What Bobble does and does not do

What can I make with Bobble?

Any flat piece you can chart: a blanket or throw, a cushion cover, a wall hanging, or a panel to sew into something bigger. Since 3 October 2026 it also makes a bauble cover worked in rounds. It does not shape garments, and tapestry is charted as flat rows.

Can I draw my own chart?

Not yet. Start from a photo or a Bobble design, then recolour, merge and resize it in the Maker. There is no blank grid to paint square by square.

Which yarn brands does Bobble match?

Two: Stylecraft Special DK and Paintbox Simply DK, both UK brands. There is no US brand yet. For any other yarn, match by eye from the chart’s colours, and change any colour on the Colours tab to suit. See Stylecraft Special DK colour matching.

Is there a Bobble app in the App Store?

No. Bobble is not in the App Store; it runs in your web browser on a phone, tablet or desktop, and there is nothing to download. To use it like an app, add it to your home screen from your browser’s menu. Once it has loaded it works offline.

Does Bobble have an MCP server?

Yes. It is free and read-only, with no sign-in: an assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT can search Bobble’s published designs and read their sizes, colours and yarn, and show their charts. It does not turn photos into charts and gives no written rows. The steps to add it are on the MCP page.

Following the chart

How do I read the chart?

Each square is one stitch, or one block in C2C. For rows, row 1 is the bottom row of the chart, read right to left; each row after it goes the other way, working up the chart. For C2C, row 1 is the bottom-right square; work diagonally outward. The side facing you on row 1 is the front. See how to read a crochet chart.

How does Make Mode, the follow-along row tracker, work?

Tap Start making in the Maker, or choose Continue making on Home. Make Mode shows the row you are on, one run of stitches at a time: how many, in which colour. Tap Next after each run, Undo to step back, and Skip to next row or Jump to row to move on. It counts your stitches and remembers your place between sittings, so you can put your hook down for a week and pick up exactly where you left off. Instructions, Chart, Note and Share and export sit under the row.

How much yarn do I need, and how big will it be?

In the Maker, the Size tab sets the finished size in centimetres or inches, and Advanced takes your tension: the stitches and rows per 10 cm (or per 4 in) from a tension swatch. Open Instructions in Make Mode and it lists every colour with the metres and number of balls to buy, including a 10 percent allowance for tension and the tails you weave in. They are estimates, so if you can, buy a spare ball of your main colour. See how many balls of yarn a graphghan needs.

Exporting and sharing

How do I export or share a pattern?

Open Share and export from the Options menu in a project, or from the bottom of Make Mode. Free accounts can pin a project’s share link to Pinterest, create one share link and publish to the Gallery. Saving the chart as an image (PNG), Print (a PDF of the chart and the written instructions), copying the written instructions as text and saving the pin as an image are part of Bobble Pro, for every chart, Bobble’s free designs included. Pro also raises the share limit to 100.

What is the gallery?

Publish a chart from Share and export and, once it has been checked, it appears in the community gallery for anyone to make. Only publish designs you made or have the right to share.

Plans and billing

What do I get with Bobble Pro?

Up to 50 projects in progress instead of 3 (finished ones don't count), the full template library, style filters (Pastel, Pop art and Vintage), the written instructions, every download (a PDF of any chart, the chart as a PNG, and printing), and up to 100 shareable links. £3.99 a month, cancel any time. The full comparison is on the pricing page.

How do I cancel Bobble Pro?

Open the app, go to your account and choose Manage billing. That opens the billing portal, where you can cancel in two taps. Pro stays active until the end of the month you have already paid for.

Your account and data

Does Bobble work offline?

Yes. Bobble is an installable web app. Once it has loaded, the chart, instructions and Make Mode work without a connection; changes sync back when you are online again.

How do I delete my account and data?

In the app, open your account and choose Delete account. It removes your projects, your saved photos and charts, your share links and their preview images, and your subscription record. Export anything you want to keep first. The privacy policy says what is stored and why.
